Fondant Sweet Hearts

Friday February 2, 2007

Countdown to Valentine's Day: 12 days

Fondant is a versatile sugar paste that forms the foundation for many other candies. In Fondant Sweet Hearts, this smooth, sweet candy is rolled thin, dyed different shades of red and pink, and cut into hearts. The hearts are dipped in chocolate and then decorated with additional fondant cut-outs. The candy is simple to assemble but looks beautiful when arranged together. The sweetness of the cream fondant patties is offset by the bittersweet chocolate, and the small size of these hearts make them perfect for munching throughout the day.

We have two entries for today's Superbowl Food Exchange. Darlene, the Guide to Thai Food, suggests:
Thai Lettuce Wraps
These wraps are crunchy, munchy, and are a pleasant mixture of hot and cold. A fun snack food, appetizer, or part of a main course.
Thai Fresh Spring Rolls (with Dipping Sauce)
Beautiful to look at (and eat!), these fresh rolls are healthier than regular spring rolls, but just as scrumptious!

And from Hector, the Guide to Latin Caribbean Food:
Pizza Empanada
A pizza inspired turnover filled with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and chopped pepperoni.

Papas Rellenas - Stuffed Potato Balls Recipe
Stuffed potato balls - meat and potatoes in one bite.
