Last week I went a little crazy in the kitchen and made homemade S'mores. Lest you be underwhelmed, let me explain that I made both the marshmallows and the graham crackers from scratch. The results? Amazing, thanks in large part to the sweet airy marshmallows melting on top. Most storebought marshmallows are like vanilla-flavored styrofoam nuggets, while homemade marshmallows are light, delicate pillows that can be flavored any way you like. This photo tutorial showing how to make marshmallows gives a very basic vanilla marshmallow recipe, but you can customize it by adding different flavored extracts, colorings, and even fruit or nuts. You will never look at a marshmallow the same way again, I promise.

HI Elizabeth!

My mother wants to make marshmallows, too. And they taste like soap to me when she makes them, Can you please tell me how to make a better recipe for her?
