I think the poor hazelnut gets a raw deal, at least in the US. While other nuts have enthusiastic supporters and their own candy bars (Almond Joy, anyone?) the hazelnut is virtually ignored. This is a shame, because hazelnuts are, to put it in technical terms, awesome. They have a slightly sweet nuttiness that makes them perfectly suited in candy recipes. This Cinnamon-Hazelnut Toffee combines hazelnuts and cinnamon in a rich, buttery toffee. The roasted nuts and cinnamon give this toffee a seasonal flavor, and the semi-sweet chocolate that coats the candy makes it a decadent, sophisticated candy that's perfect for sharing with others...or keeping all to yourself!
