I first saw these clever Caramel-Wrapped Pretzel Rods when I was shopping at a cake and candy supply store. The store had a small space where they held classes, and I happened to be there when they were teaching a group of younger children--about 7 or 8 years old--how to make candy. Being the snoop that I am, I lurked around, creeping like a creepy creeper, trying to soak up any extra knowledge or fun candy ideas. Well, my spying paid off, because when I saw the little candy-makers wrapping strips of caramel around long pretzel rods, a light bulb of comedic proportions went off above my head. "Self," I said to myself, "if small children can make these delicious, beautiful candies, then surely you--and your readers--can make and enjoy them as well!" And so, I tootled home, did some experimenting, and came up with my own version of Caramel-Wrapped Pretzel Rods. They're unique. They're pretty. They're tasty. And they're easy enough small children can make them, so I guarantee you'll have success, too!
