July has snuck up on me, which means there's only a few days before Fourth of July celebrations! If you're going to a picnic or party, might I suggest taking these Red, White, and Blue Cake Balls? Now you may be thinking, "What's the big deal? They just look like regular white truffles with some fancy blue and red sprinkles on top. Reaaaaal difficult, lady. Thanks for the great decorating ideas." First of all: rude! Secondly: look what happens when you bite into one of these babies.
Bam! Suddenly you've uncovered a red, white, and blue bonanza. These cake truffles look kind of amazing (if I do say so myself) but they're not actually very hard to make--they're just time consuming because of all the rolling and chilling involved in forming the layers. But look at that picture of the bulls-eye and tell me it's not worth it to make such an eye-catching, surprising dessert. If you do want to make things easier on yourself, I've included a few suggestions at the end of the recipe for simplifying or modifying the steps to speed up the process.
