Ever since he tasted these Caramel Peanut Pretzel Bites, my husband has been conjuring elaborate daydreams about getting rich. It goes like this: I somehow figure out a way to make these into full-sized candy bars, convince Mars to make them for me (while retaining all the rights, of course) get them on store shelves, and within a few months, we're billionaires. Sounds farfetched? It might be a little unrealistic, but hey--you haven't tasted them yet! These small bite-sized candies start with peanut butter-filled pretzel nuggets. The nuggets get a layer of chewy caramel wrapped around them, then the entire package is dunked in chocolate and topped with chopped nuts. The final result in a two-bite treat that's crunchy, chewy, salty, and sweet, in perfect proportions.
It's the same basic ingredient list that you can find in a Take Five candy bar, but there is something special about having the peanut butter surrounded by a light and cruchy pretzel "pocket," instead of just mixed into the other flavors. If I suddenly stop blogging in the next few weeks, you'll know that we made his dream a reality and we're on a tropical island somewhere, being fanned with palm fronds and stuffing ourselves with these candy bar bites!
