Fluffernutter Candy!

When I was typing up this recipe for Fluffernutter Candy, I polled my twitter friends about the fluffernutter sandwich, a childhood indulgence made with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. It turns out there are a lot of fluffernutter fans! Some people specified their favorite type of peanut butter, while others added extra ingredients like bananas or bacon. (Oh, you crazy kids!)

If you haven't experienced a fluffernutter firsthand, I recommend you skip the sandwich and go straight to this Fluffernutter Candy. These squares combine the two basic fluffernutter tastes: a base of smooth peanut butter fudge, and a topping of light, soft vanilla marshmallows. I wasn't sure how they would turn out, but the combination is amazing. Not too sweet, mostly smooth but with a little bit of texture from the fudge, and way too addicting.

These Fluffernutters taste great plain, but they tend to stick together, so I dipped most of mine in chocolate. This way, they last longer, plus the chocolate adds an additional flavor dimension. You could finish them with a sprinkling of toasted peanuts, if you'd like to add a litte crunch!
