Candy Corn Popcorn & Popcorn Balls

Far be it from me to say anything bad about candy corn during this, the most holy of candy seasons, but the truth is, candy corn can be a divisive food. Some people love it, some people hate it, and some people--like me!--enjoy the thought of candy corn much more than the actual product. I've found that pairing candy corn with other foods helps make it more enjoyable, so today we're fusing candy corn and popcorn in two beautiful corn-y candies.

Candy Corn Popcorn Balls aren't your typical hard-as-a-rock popcorn balls. Rather, they're held together by melted marshmallows instead of a sugar syrup, so they stay soft and chewy, and the vanilla flavor of the marshmallows blends nicely with the candy corn. They are quite sweet, but what's a Halloween candy without a little sugar buzz?

The name Candy Corn Popcorn might be a little misleading, as no candy corn was actually harmed in the making of this sweet and crunchy snack. Instead, this candied popcorn takes its inspiration from the tri-colored design of candy corn. The popcorn itself can be made with whatever flavoring extract you'd like, and is cooked until it is nice and crisp, with a satisfying candy crunch surrounding every kernel. This popcorn makes an excellent unique Halloween treat or gift. Imagine packaging it up in gift bags or jars--so cute and stylish! To really reinforce the similarity, toss a handful of candy corn in amidst the popcorn pieces.
