You know how to make hot chocolate. You know how to make lollipops. But did you know you can make hot chocolate lollipops? Hot Chocolate on a Stick, as it's called, starts with a thick block of fudge, made simply with chocolate, condensed milk, and cream. The fudge is heavy and rich and quite delicious on its own...but we're not done yet. After it sets, the fudge is cut into squares and skewered with lollipop sticks, wooden sticks, or even sporks. (Yes, you may use sporks. I told you this was an amazing recipe.)
When the resulting chocolate pops are stirred into hot milk, the fudge dissolves and turns your milk into an ultra-rich mug of hot chocolate. You are literally drinking melted fudge, and it tastes that way! I will never go back to powdered drink mixes after discovering how easy, fast, and delicious hot chocolate on a stick can be. These pops also make a great Christmas gift. You can package them as they are, or roll them in crushed candy canes or cocoa powder, or drizzle them with white chocolate to fancy them up.
Peppermint Stick Marshmallows
are another great Christmas candy-cum-gift. These easy treats are made from three other candies: marshmallows, candy canes, and white chocolate. After the marshmallows are skewered by peppermint sticks, they're coated with melted white chocolate and rolled in crushed candy canes. These aren't the most exciting when eaten on their own, but when you add them to a mug of hot cocoa--whoa baby!
The beauty of these candies is that they're so quick and easy to make, but if you're feeling ambitious, consider making your own marshmallows or your own candy canes to make them a bit more gourmet.
