Salami and chocolate don't usually belong in the same sentence, much less the same mouthful. However, this recipe for Chocolate Salami has changed the way I think about meat-shaped desserts! Cake crumbs, ganache, fruit, and nuts are combined to form a beautiful log of chocolate that bears a striking--some might say disturbing--resemblance to salami.

This is the perfect candy for entertaining: it can be made up to a month in advance and stored in the freezer. When guests arrive, simple dust it with powdered sugar and slice it into thin rounds. After they get over their initial shock they'll be delighted by this visually stunning, deeply chocolatey treat. If you find yourself with leftover cake or nuts from recent celebrations, this is the perfect recipe to repurpose them and enjoy them in a new way.
