Sweet Book of Candy Making Elizabeth LaBau

Elizabeth LaBau is a former pastry chef, a current food writer and recipe developer, and a shameless candy enthusiast.

Experience:

Elizabeth has been the About.com Guide to Candy since 2006. Her culinary career started at Epicurean School of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles, where she completed the Professional Baking and Pastry program. After working for years as a pastry chef in various bakeries and restaurants, she transitioned to food writing and candy recipe development. She now works full-time developing recipes, photographing food, and eating way too much sugar on a regular basis.

Her first candy cookbook, The Sweet Book of Candy Making, will be published by Quarry Books in October 2012. This book will feature over 70 candy recipes, each with a full-color picture. It's also crammed with step-by-step photo tutorials and decorating ideas to give your homemade candies that professional shine.

From Elizabeth LaBau:

I think that for many people, eating candy brings a primitive joy unmatched by most other foods. My goal is to celebrate all things candy, and to show people that making beautiful, delicious candies at home is not only possible, it's downright fun! I'll take you through the entire process, from tempering chocolate to molding truffles, from learning the stages of boiled sugar to creating caramels and toffee like a pro. I'll also keep you up-to-date on seasonal recipes and candy news. So roll up your sleeves, stock up on sugar, and let's get cooking!
